This 8-week course (one evening a week) is based on the mindfulness course developed by Jon Kabat Zinn.
Mindfulness is described by Jon Kabat-Zinn as “paying attention in a particular way: on purpose, in the present moment and non- judgementally. Our English-spoken mindfulness courses are based on the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) programme developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn. This mindfulness programme hasa clearly defined protocol that have been scientifically proven to be effective in a variety of fields.
Practicing mindfulness leads to more awareness of thoughts, feelings and bodily sensations in the present moment. Developing an observing, non-reactive perspective enables one to consciously respond- with more clarity and calm- rather than reacting out of automatic, habitual patterns.
If you want to improve the quality of you life, the mindfulness training program might be the right thing to do, especially when you want to learn how to deal with life’s obstacles in a new way. Participants are expected to be motivated. Practising on a daily basis is an important part of the training and will need to be carried out seriously in order to benefit from the training program. Your motivation will determine the result.
- learn how to deal with difficult emotions, like tension, anxiety or pain
- spend less energy on worrying
- be able to enjoy a busy life
- find more moments of joy, peace and inner stillness
- experience each moment with awareness
- increase your energy levels
What is the MBSR Program?
The Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program was developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn in 1979 at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. Since then it’s been the subject of thousands of research studies in medicine, psychology and neuroscience.
The MBSR course is an 8-week, nine session course. The weekly sessions are 2 ½ hours and there is also one full day session of 6 hours. Elements of the program are guided mindfulness exercises, exploring patterns of thinking, feeling and action, information about physiology of stress, group discussion and inquiry. Participants commit to daily practice at home during the course using the audio files and work book.
Free intake for the mindfulness training
There is always a free, personal intake with the trainer before the training. This takes place at our location in Utrecht Leidsche Rijn. After the intake you only decide definitively whether to participate. We discuss whether the training suits you, your needs or complaints, and you can ask all your questions.
Experienced mindfulness trainers, recognized in the highest category
All our mindfulness trainers are recognized in the highest category by the professional association VMBN. Mindfulness trainer is a liberal profession, everyone can call themselves that, which is why this recognition is important. In addition, our trainers are experienced, they provide continuous training. In addition, they have followed additional training courses and they keep up to date in their field. They are level-headed and involved. When reimbursed for burnout by health insurers, the requirement is always that the training is given by a category 1 trainer of the VMBN. So you’re in the right place with us!
